Orange Ribbon Ceremonies
This week classes tied orange ribbons along our school fence in memory of the 215 Indigenous children who lost their lives at the Kamloops Residential school. Two of our grade 5 students, Mikayla and Harper came to us with the idea and many classes participated. Ms. S, Mrs. Yeo, Ms. Coulter, Mrs. Bendo, Mrs. Timoshyk, Mr. Chidley, Mrs. Frayne, Ms. Ngai and Ms. Brunelle our Aboriginal Support Worker all tied ribbons on the fence and then observed 2 minutes and 15 seconds of silence. So much teaching and conversation has been done over the past few weeks and it was a very moving morning.
Grade 7 Farewell
The final days of elementary school are upon our amazing group of grade 7 students. We planned a special day on Thursday to celebrate all of their accomplishments and the kids were amazing. We are so proud of them and all that they have to offer the world as they head off to high school. A kind, smart, and funny group of students for sure.
Mrs. Finley Retirement Celebration
Over the week, classes have come to the office to celebrate Mrs. Finley and share special memories or stories with her. Students put up art work capturing their thoughts about Mrs. Finley, we decorated her office and families had an opportunity to come and say good bye!! It was a fun but bittersweet week. We wish Mrs. Finley so much joy in her next adventure which will include lots of golf and camping.
